Youth BB Gun Program
Harrisburg Hunters’ and Anglers’ has a strong commitment to our
youth and has demonstrated this through their support of our numerous youth
programs. We are pleased to continue our support of the BB Gun
Program for the ages of 8 to 14.
We are very excited with this program. This program has been around
since 1965. It has a very long tradition of teaching gun safety, creating self
discipline, the spirit of competition and having fun while you are learning.
This course is a mixture of both shooting and learning gun safety, as well as
the operation of a BB Gun and all of it’s rules that encompass BB Gun
competition.
After the safety course is completed, we will determine if we have
enough participation to move on and create a team or teams for competition. If
so, we will create a practice schedule that will take us through April.
The Club is providing all materials at this time. You do not need to be a member
of the club in order to participate, so please tell anyone that may be
interested in this program. The more youth we have that are properly educated
about guns and gun safety, the brighter their future will be as well as gun
programs of the future.
The BB gun program will begin on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008, and will
continue on Friday, 10/24, Wednesday, 10/29. Friday 10/31, Wednesday 11/05 and
Friday 11/07. Also, Wednesday 11/12 and Friday 11/14. All classes are from 6:30
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This program is open to the public and there are no fees for
this 4 week course. Parents are encouraged to participate. Practice will
continue after the 4 week course. The BB Gun practices are Wednesday 6:30 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m. in the indoor archery range. We will also have practices on
Saturday’s starting in January from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. , again, in the
indoor archery range. For more information contact Burt "Rusty" Stockton at 566-2559 after 5:00
p.m. or email
In 2006 the BB Gun Program benefited from a NRA Grant. The
program was able to purchase equipment and supplies needed to expand the
BB Gun Program. We would like to thank the NRA for their support of our
program.
