Youth BB Gun Program

Harrisburg Hunters’ and Anglers’ has a strong commitment to our youth and has demonstrated this through their support of our numerous youth programs. We are pleased to continue our support of the BB Gun Program for the ages of 8 to 15.

We are very excited about this program. This program has been around since 1965. It has a very long tradition of teaching gun safety, creating self-discipline, the spirit of competition and having fun while you are learning. This course is a mixture of both shooting and learning gun safety, as well as the operation of a BB Gun and all of its rules that encompass BB Gun competition.

After the safety course is completed, we will determine if we have enough participation to move on and create a team or teams for competition. If so, we will create a practice schedule that will take us through April. The Club is providing all materials at this time. You do not need to be a member of the club in order to participate, so please tell anyone that may be interested in this program. The more youth we have that are properly educated about guns and gun safety, the brighter their future will be as well as gun programs of the future.

The BB gun program will begin on Wednesday, October 21st, 2016, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and will continue on 10/23, 10/28, 10/30, 11/4, 11/6, 11/11 and wrapping up on 11/13. The location is in the indoor archery range. The ages for this program is 8 to 15. For those wishing to continue on for competition, we will start practices on Wednesday, 12/2 and continue every Wednesday in December. On November 18th a coaches clinic will be held for all the parents and coaches. Practices will continue in January through April every Wed and Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

To sign up or for more information, contact Burt “Rusty” Stockton at 566-2559 after 5:00 p.m. or email.

The HH&A BB Gun Riflemen have completed their most successful trip to the Daisy National BB Gun Match over the 4th of July. The team placed an impressive 5th out of 51 teams from 17 states. This is the highest any of our teams who have made the trip has placed to date! The team even outshot the reigning State BB Gun Champion team from Penn’s Valley, PA. We were also thrilled to have one of the few shooters who scored a perfect score on their safety test. Mica Harr was one of 13 shooters out of 338 shooters to earn that honor. Kelsey Bortner also made us proud by earning a silver medal in the prone position, with a score of 99 8X. We couldn’t be more proud of this incredible group of shooters that represented not only our state but also HH&A. They were the epitome of sportsmanship and teamwork at all times. Congratulations to the team: Kelsey Bortner, Tom Freeburn, Clare Harr, Mica Harr and James McCollum and the alternates Tat Benner and Mickey Sultzaberger! Thank you for all of your support,

Burt “Rusty” Stockton.
