Civilian Marksmanship Program

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) was borne out of The National Defense Authorization Act for the Fiscal Year 1996 (Title XVI), which created the Corporation for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and Firearms Safety, Inc. (CPRPFS). The CMP promotes firearms safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S. citizens. It operates through affiliated shooting clubs and associations, emphasizing youth programs. These programs include instruction in the basics of marksmanship, firearms and range safety, competitive marksmanship and subjects related to firearms safety. As an affiliated shooting club, members of Harrisburg Hunters' and Anglers' Association are eligible for CMP Program Services. Harrisburg Hunters' and Anglers' Association is also a Qualifying Club. By attending an M1 Clinic hosted by the club and competing in rifle matches, you can be eligible to purchase an M1 Garand through the CMP’s Rifle Sales Program.
